A Future market is an auction market in which participants buy and sell commodity/future contracts for delivery on a specified future date. The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nagaon organized two training cum awareness programmes on Commodity Future Markets in collaboration with MITCON Consultancy Limited, Pune, recently at Jajari Mazgaon and at Bebejia. The programme was fully sponsored by the Forward Market Commission, Govt. of India. Two local NGOs viz., Grammya Unnayan Santha and Asom Rajjyik Krishak Samannay Samitee also rendered their help in organizing the awareness programme.
The first programme was held on 30th March, 2010 at Jajari mazgaon where 50 local famers and entrepreneurs participated. Mr. Jayanta Dutta of KVK explained the objectives of organizing the training programme. At the outset, on behalf of the organizers Dr. T. P. Saikia, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Nagaon welcomed the participants. In his address, he said that KVK, Nagaon is always at the service of farmers through its various transfer of technology activities. He also stated that KVK also provides inspiration, constructive and constant advice to the people to start new entrepreneurship for their livelihood and show them proper way when need actual help as the light house help the sailor in the sea. Mr. Bhabajyoti Saikia, Adviser of “Sonai Mahila Dugdha Samabai Samiti” also addressed the gathering and offered his sincere thanks to the organizers for holding the programme in their locality.
The second awareness programme was organized at Bebejia Chariali on the 31st March, 2010 where also 50 progressive famers and rural youths belonging to five development blocks participated. Dr. T.P.Saikia, Programme Coordinator of KVK inaugurated the programme. In both the locations, Mr. Jayanta Dutta, Farm Manager of KVK, Nagaon attended the programme as resource person who elaborately discussed the different concepts of Spot, Forward and Future markets and their mechanism of work. An interactive session on each day was also organized on this occasion where the experts from KVK took part.
