KMSS against mega dams

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samitee led by Akhil Gogoi submitted a memorandum to Prime Minster against the construction of large dams in the north east. The memorandum also contains signature of more than 100,000 individuals from different parts of the state. In a public meeting organized near the Cotton College, Akhil Gogoi said that KMSS shall organize more protest in different ways after wards if Government does not listen to them and stop the mega dams in the region. The public meeting was also addressed by Udayaditta Bharali, former Principal of Cotton College, Deven Dutta, eminent public activist, Akhil Ranjan Dutta, Hemanta Kalita amongst others. Students from Cotton College and Handique Girl’s College also spoke on the occasion who were part of the signature campaign against the mega dams. People have taken pledge to take part actively in the movement against mega dams in the. Mr. Akhil Gogoi also said that community based mini hydro projects which are sustainable can be constructed but the large dams must be stopped in the region.

Saraighat film fest from Nov 1

North East Youth Foundation is organising second Saraighat Film Festival (SFF) on 1st and 2nd November in Guwahati. SFF shall screen documentaries made by young people and best documentary shall win prize money apart from other prizes. Any young person up to the age of 30 may join the festival by sending their short films. Maximum duration is 15 minutes and themes are poverty, human rights, livelihood, etc. Interested may send their movies by 29th October. Annual Academic Day of Sainik School

Health Check up Camp

Youth for Humanity, a Guwahati based Non Governmental Organisation  organised a free health check up camp on 19th July at Kalyan Bhawan in Ganeshguri . This health camp was organised in association with Apollo Clinic and supported by Shree Kalyan Charitable Trust. Gender mainstreaming workshop concludes

Focus on gender mainstreaming for youths

A five day residential workshop on Gender Mainstreaming is going to be organized by Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development and North East Youth Foundation at Guwahati, Assam from 13th July, 2015 to 17th July, 2015. Health check up camp at Guwahati

A free health check up camp was held at Rupnagar LP School, Guwahati on SUnday.  It was attended by many experienced doctors from Wintrobe Hospital, other invitees and people from the locality who got the benefit from the free health check up camp.
