GUWAHATI: Assam observes Janmastami of the Lord Krishna along with other parts of the country amid tight security arrangement in view of stepped up militant activities.

ISKCON temple in the city is all abuzz as hundreds of devotees gatecrashing the place to offer prayer to the Lord Sri Krishna. Apprehending the repeat of the Manipur like situation, the authorities here have banned carrying of cameras, bags and bottles to the temple premises on Monday anf Tuesday.
The astami commences at 1 am to 10.47 pm on Tuesday. Several temples, such as Gouriyo Math and Shyam Mandir, have been decorated for the Janmastami celebrations.
