Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is all set to meet a civil society delegation from Assam on Monday evening to explore the possibilities of an expedited talk between ULFA and the government. According to sources, the talk is scheduled at 6-45 in the evening. Earlier, led by Dr Hiren Gohain the delegation was scheduled to meet the PM at 10-30 in the morning. But it was re-scheduled. Addressing a press meet in Delhi, Dr Gohain said ULFA wans to talk to the government which they came to know only after they met a few top leaders inside the jail. He said a considerable section of ULFA wants a negotiated settlement of the problems ravaging Assam for decades.
Notably, Gohain received the invitation from the PMO on Friday and accordingly, he along with Dr Nirmal Kumar Chaudhury, Indibor Deori, Hiranya Kumar Bhattacharya, Khursed Alom and Ruhini Kumar Baruah left for Delhi on Saturday.
