New junior science college opened at Tangla
In order to provide quality science education to economically backward students of Udalguri,who cannot afford to study in Guwahati or elsewhere in the country,a juniour science college named -Arunodoi junior Science College has been etablished recently at Tangla. A public meeting which was presided over by Lakhi Kanta Ramchiary decided to open the new junior science college at Tangla from July 2010 under the supervision of a Tangla NGO 'Arunodoi'.
While talking to media persons, Napolean Daimari,Principal, Arunodoi Academy High School,Tangla said that the junior science college was established as there had not been a good science institution for higher secondary level students in and around Tangla.It needs mentioned that the new junior science college will start classes from the month of July 2010 at its own premises situated in ward No. 4 Tangla.

The suspected death of a 12-years-old wild elephant in the night of May 25 in Bhutiachag TE in Udalguri district has been condoled by nature lovers of the district. The dead elephant was found near a high voltage eletric post in between section 6B and 12B of the tea garden.According to information received the 8 feet tall elephant had been seen roaming in the locality along with other two wild elephants for a few days causing no harm to people. Acting on a specific tip off, a joint team of 315 Field Regiment (KARGIL) and Dist Police of Udalguri discovered a powerful IED weighing 6.5 Kg planted by anti talk faction of NDFB at 11.50am at Bhuankhat under Kalaigaon police station in Udalguri district.It was planted on railway track at village Bhuyakhat between Tangla and Khoirabari near Bhergaon.All trains in the train route were accordingly halted. Acting on a tip off, two NDFB cadres conducting extortion in village Khagrabari of Udalguri District on 16 Apr 2010, troops of 315 Field Regiment (KARGIL) from the Borengajuli Army Camp acted with speed and nabbed the two cadres namely Sukhram Boro of Naokata village alongwith an accomplice. NDFB extortion pads were recovered from the extortionists alongwith two country made pistols.
