Govt. to bear kidney transplantation cost


It's a godwill gesture to the kidney patients of the state that from now onwards the Assam Government will be bearing a cost of Rs. One Lacs for kidney transplantation.


Declaring this at a press conference on Wednesday, the Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma stated that this new scheme exists w.e.f. 1st of May and those patients will also be covered under this scheme who has already got transplanted kidney after 1st May provided, they have to produce the hospital bills. He said that those willing to go for kidney transplantation may contact Dr. Anup Barman,Head of the Nephrology deptt. of Guwahati Medical College Hospital.
