Ganza seized, 4 arrested in Rangiya
Security personnels of Rangiya based 61 Engineering Regiment of Red Horns Army, during a routine security frisking here at Chepti under Rangiya PS recovered around 80 kilogrmas of contraband/ ganza inside from a bus from Guwahati towards Barpeta this morning while trying to supply the same by four persons. Armymen, in this regard had detained two women namely- Soni Parveen and Basanti Devi and another two youths- Anil Prasad and Ravi . The accused four were later handed over to Rangiya Police by the army, and Police had arrested the persons held in this connection. The arrested persons, as per sources reportedly confessed about the fact and said they were about to ferry the ganza to other sides of the state and also outside. Mentionably, one person dressed in olive green absconded from the scene while the other four fell into army dragnet. A complaint had been lodged by Rangiya PS in this connection and the arrested persons were kept in Police lock up till filing this report.

A rickshaw puller named Ravi Thakur was brutally killed here at Rangiya Tiniali at around 8 last night . Thakur, a rickshaw puller by profession was residing here at Tiniali at his own land, was suspected to have been killed due to land related issue. Police today has sent the body for autopsy to GMCH. Two bodies of a mother with her minor son near at ASEB power house quarter complex at Chirakhundi on Thursday. Tragic death of both mother and her minor son had created mixed reaction about the level of security relating life and death. Sabita Kalita, the mother, was found hanged and her minor son Himangshu Kalita (Dhan) found dead at their residence at the ASEB quarter here. The family amidst financial constrain was leading their lives in a hardship, the husband of the deceased who is a security guard of ASEB as per reports.
