Training programme for Krishak Mitra held at Nagaon

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nagaon in collaboration with the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Shillongani organized a 3- days training programme on Crop Production and subsidiary occupations during 2nd to 4th November, 2010 at Shillongani, Nagaon for the Krishak Mitras of IFFCO villages of Assam.


A brief inaugural ceremony on this occasion was also held where Dr. B.Barman, Chief Scientist, RARS, Shillongani graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He offered his thanks to IFFCO for organizing the programme at Shillongani and hoped that more such programmes would be held in future for the greater interest of the farming community. Dipankar Nandi, State Marketing Manager, IFFCO and Gautam Barman, DDM, NABARD, Nagaon addressed the gathering as Guest of Honour. In his welcome address Dr. T. P. Saikia, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Nagaon said that KVK, Nagaon is always at the service of farmers through its various transfer of technology activities. He also urged upon the participants to interact actively with the resource persons who would impart training on different aspects of agriculture and allied subjects. Earlier, Anuj Kataky, Field Officer of IFFCO explained the objectives of organizing the training programme. The Krishak Mitras from the districts of Sonitpur, Jorhat, Kamrup and Cachar participated in the training programme. Altogether 17 resource persons delivered lectures on various subject matters.


A field visit to the Technology Showcasing sites of KVK, Nagaon at Raha was also conducted where the participants interacted with the farmers and scientists on various aspects of rice seed production. Accompanying scientists of KVK viz., Utapal Deka and Jayanta Dutta also advised the Krishak Mitras to encourage the farmers of their respective villages to produce quality seeds. They also highlighted to the farmers about the Technology Showcasing Programme of the University.
