People have expressed satisfaction at the better performance of the students of JNV ( Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalaya ),Kalaigaon and Kalaigaon Junior college in the recently published HSS and CBSE results. Although situated in the backward Udalguri district, students of a few educational institutions have performed better than previous years.The students of Kalaigaon Junior college have topped the table ( in the district ) with 88 percent success. Moktar Hussain, a student of Bholabari High School has set another example to others when he successfully rescued a full grown Barn owl in his school campus on May 22 at 11 am. Talking to this correspondent, Moktar Hussain,a class ten student said that he had spotted the lone owl flying here and there near the school building at around 10 am on that day.He said that taking advantage of its night blindness, a few crows were chasing the helpless bird. The students of Lokapriya Bordoloi Public School planted hundreds of medicinal plants at Kalaigaon on May 16 at 10 am.More than hundred of ‘Mahaneem,Silikha and Amlakhis’ were planted at the premises of Lokapriya Bordoloi Public School,Kalaigaon. Students,under the guidance of teachers not only planted the saplings; but also vowed to take good care of them. Fencings were too provided to the plants by the students in order to protect them. A weaving cum sewing training centre was inaugurated at Choudhuripara village in Darrang district on May 10 at Gandhi Smriti.
