Vacancy of seven teachers’ post in Kabirali HSS regretted

Kabirali Higher Secondary school has been recognized as an oldest high school in the district of Udalguri. The school is located between Kalaigaon and Udalguri town,10 km from Kalaigaon,.where more than a thousand students from a few very backward villages (both Bodo and Assamese medium) study. But the school has many woes to tell. At least seven posts of subject and assistant teachers have been lying vacant since long back, causing students to suffer most.

Jiban Saharia, Principal of the school told this scribe with regret that government had not yet taken any step for filling up the vacancies in the school inspite of his several representation. He said that one science teacher Uday Sarmah retired from service on 31-12-08 while another science teacher Madan Deka took transfer to Dhula HS in 2004. According to him posts of seven teachers have been vacant in his school till date. The only English subject teacher of the school Durlav Baruah was transferred to Kalaigaon HSS in 2000, causing serious teaching problem to 11th and 12th standard students of the school. According to the principal, though the school was located in BTAD areas, nothing good had been done to the school by BTAD authority. “How can we impart good education without forty percent less teaching staff? Even Bodo medium students have been suffering in the absence of Bodo language teachers.” -the principal said bitterly. Principal Saharia said that most of the teachers appointed in the school were later transferred to other schools of the teachers’ choice .People of Kabirali urged the government immediately to restore normal academic atmosphere in the school.
