Jim Ankan Deka, becomes the first Assamese to open a music institution and a production house in Bangalore, India. Eastern Fare Music Foundation had its origination in 2007. Presently the foundation has six institutions and two recording studios. While Jim is the proprietor, two of his friends Mr Anand PM from Kerala and Miss Parmita Borah from Assam help him in running the show. So far the institution has over 400 students with six full and part time teachers. They teach mainly Guitar, Keyboard and Piano in Western Classical Style. Their students sit for Trinity exams.
Jim Ankan Deka is the son of the celebrated Assamese litterateur and economist Late Bhabananda Deka and poet Nalini Prabha Deka. Jim has been composing and arranging Music since his childhood. So far he has arranged music for various Films, Music Albums, Jingles, Video Games, Documentaries and TV Series in an array of languages including Assamese, Hindi, English, Kannada, Nagamese and Mizo. He has had a stint with "Goalporia Folk Songs" as well. He has nine albums till date and is working on three albums in Kannada, English and Assamese language.
Eastern Fare Studio has been helping the upcoming bands with the recording and promotion. They have two four piece and five piece bands in Bangalore consist of students of Eastern Fare who play retro and classic rock music in different clubs and resorts. Jim Ankan himself has a band named 'Veenar' with the renowned Kannada musician Suchethan Rangaswami who are working on their debut album to be released in November this year.

A 4-years old boy, son Anirudha Saikia and Padma Saikia of Geleky, Methonchuwa of Sivasagar was kiddnapped by one Diganta Sasoni of the same village on Wednesday. Tengapukhuri out-post under Mathurapur Police station has arrested one Minu Ali, the conductor of a 709 mini bus (AS01-F-5007) on molestation charges on Wednesday. The NGO, Jeuti (Unnatir Ek Yatra), under their project, Grammya Arthik Sashalata Mancha, organised a week long workshop at Singhdwar Community Auditorium. In this workshop they trained the participants to make items from the Jute, Water Hyacinth and un-used materials. The NGO also help their trainees for loan and marketing of their products. Nearly 150 trainees attened in this workshop.

Sensation prevails in Golaghat district of upper Assam when Nagaland policemen thrashed a group of school girls on Wednesday. The incident took place at around 9 in the morning as the policemen beat up some school goers at Thuramukh under Golaghat police station. Altogether 50 students, mostly girls, have been injured in the incident. Fifteen of these injured students have been rushed to the Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital. Jayanti Gogoi and Latumoni Bhuyan have been seriously injured.
Abahoni Limited of Bangladesh lift the presitgious Bordoloi Trophy at the end of a thrlling clash with 3 Star Club from Nepal on Wednesday in Guwahati. Assam's overall flood situation remains grim on Wednesday with Brahmaputra flowing above the danger leevl affecting atleast five lakh people.
According to the Central Water Commission, the Brahmaputra is crossed danger level at Guwahati, Goalpara, Sibsagar, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Nimatighat, Naharkatia and Tezpur.
This wave have affected 11 districts where vast tracks of farm land and a large number of human habitations have been submerged in Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Sibsagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Morigaon, Sonitpur, Dhubri, Goalpara and Barpeta.

Suspected United Liberation Front of Asom has kidnapped nephew of former Congress MP Manikumar Subba from Tinsukia district of Assam on Wednesday. According to information, a few youths kidnapped Ajoy Raj Subba at gun point from Bordubi in the morning. A mild tremor has shaken parts of Guwahati and its neighbouring lower Assam districts on Saturday. As the mild quake struck at around at 12-33 pm, a section of the panic stricken residents in the city started coming out of their houses. According to US Geological Research center,the intensity of the earthquake is 4.8 in the Richter scale. There is however no report of any casualty.
