Jim Ankan Deka, becomes the first Assamese to open a music institution and a production house in Bangalore, India. Eastern Fare Music Foundation had its origination in 2007. Presently the foundation has six institutions and two recording studios. While Jim is the proprietor, two of his friends Mr Anand PM from Kerala and Miss Parmita Borah from Assam help him in running the show. So far the institution has over 400 students with six full and part time teachers. They teach mainly Guitar, Keyboard and Piano in Western Classical Style. Their students sit for Trinity exams.
Jim Ankan Deka is the son of the celebrated Assamese litterateur and economist Late Bhabananda Deka and poet Nalini Prabha Deka. Jim has been composing and arranging Music since his childhood. So far he has arranged music for various Films, Music Albums, Jingles, Video Games, Documentaries and TV Series in an array of languages including Assamese, Hindi, English, Kannada, Nagamese and Mizo. He has had a stint with "Goalporia Folk Songs" as well. He has nine albums till date and is working on three albums in Kannada, English and Assamese language.
Eastern Fare Studio has been helping the upcoming bands with the recording and promotion. They have two four piece and five piece bands in Bangalore consist of students of Eastern Fare who play retro and classic rock music in different clubs and resorts. Jim Ankan himself has a band named 'Veenar' with the renowned Kannada musician Suchethan Rangaswami who are working on their debut album to be released in November this year.

Jim, definitely has been a talent. I have visited him and his school personally; and persona and the vibe exhibited there show the dedication of a devoted musician. Wish him all the best for his future endeavors.

This is a good news for Assam. Assamese musicians are well known everywhere. But respect is another thing. Best of luck Jim. We should be proud of you.

Rongali Bih 2011 will be celebrated at Guwgaon on April 16. This year, there will be a 'Bihuwoti Competition' with a prize money of Rs.15,000/-, performance by guest artist Abhishruti Bezbaruah, Husori and Jhumur performances by artists from Assam, etc. There will also be authentics Assamese dinner. Pro talk ULFA leader Anu Buragohain has been arrested on extortion charges. According to information, Buragohain, the publicity member of the outfit's central committee was arrested by Chandmari police when he came to the area to extort money. Details area awaited. Buragohain is one of the close associates of chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa who deserted Bangladesh camp before Rajkhowa was released on bail.
Amid strings of resentment and dissidence AGP is set to announce its second list on Monday. The list contains the name of the candidates of some vital constituencies which was approved on Saturday.
Atleast 20 were killed in 5 seperate road accidents in the state during the last 12 hours. The first one took place in the morning at Bokolialghat where a Tata mobile van slipped in to a deep drain leaving 4 dead on the spot.
This was followed by a tragic accident at Besimari in Mongoldoi where 8 killed and over 20 injured at around 7 in the evening. It took place when a truck rammed into a Santro car which hit hardly at a bullock cart. Atleast 8 died on the spot and over 20 injured.
In yet another accident, 5 of a family were killed when their car collided its head on a truck in Dibrugarh at around 8 in the evening.
The main opposition AGP is in a mood to strike prepoll deal with ASDC and B PPF to fare well in the assembly polls slated on April 4 and 11 AGP will leave a few seats for A SDC in Karbi Anglong district while the main opposition party is set to leave a good number of seats for BPPF in the Bodo dominated districts.
Trouble brews in bjp a month ahead of assembly. Hundreds of partymen from Morigaon vendalized the state party office in Guwahati alleging that Bhadrakanta Nath was not fielded. Important materials including computer have been damaged. The party has fielded Prahlad Bhuyan in morigaon.
On the other hand, Dispur BJP workers are also unhappy a day after leader Jayanta Das was not fielded. His supporters alleged that Dispur candidate Ronghang has hardly and hope. Notably, the party on Friday announced a list of 54 candidates where several leaders have been left out.
Meanwhile, state BJP leadership have expelled 6 workers from Morigaon for vendalizing party office in Guwahati on Saturday.
The Centre has approved prosecution of an engineer in connection with the multi crore scam. According to home ministry sources, NIA probing the terror funding cases in NC Hills gets green signal to prosecute an engineer Karuna Saikia in this connection where funds meant for poor people has been siphoned off and part of swindled fund reached DHD-J.
The wait is over.Assam is all set to go to the assembly polls on April 4 and 11. This was announced by chief election commissioner Dr SY Qureshi. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Delhi,Dr Qureshi said that the Assam governor will issue poll notification onFridayfor the first phase.The notification for second phase of polling slated for April 11 would be issued on March 11. The counting of votes would take place on May 13 along with West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Puducherry.
