It is really heartening to know that IGNOU and OIL are coming forward to practically help the women of the region. Other Corporate sectors should also adopt agenda to help and train the vast pool of young women who can be made highly skilled to compete at the National as well as International level. Tourism development is one sector which have great potentiality and needs to be focussed.

Industry chambers of the NE have termed the union Budget presented by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today as a 'stereotype' with nothing specific in it for the region. FINER said the decision to increase service tax and lack of stimulus for the industry would curb weak growth. FINER Chairman R S Joshi said that there were no measures in the budget to revive industry. Instead standard excise duty has been hiked.
