An evening of Sattriya Dance at Rabindra Bhawan
A memorable Sattriya dance programme was performed by Dr. Mallika Kandali and Karabi Bhattacharya on July 5 at Robindra Bhawan. The cultural programme was started from 6.30 in the evening. Dulal Roy inaugurated the programme lighting the lamp. At first, Krishna Bandana was performed by the artists. Then a solo dance Chali Ramdani and Abhinaya was performed by Mrs. Mallika Kandali and Nadubhangi Ramdani and Abhinaya was performed by Mrs. Karabi Bhattacharya. Rasa Bishar was performed where both the artists showed Naba Rasa. The one hour dance programme was really fantastic where all the audience forgot everything in the tune of the flute. In the end of the programme, Baskor Jyoti Mahanta, IPS falicitated the accompaning artist of the programme. Dr. Mallika Kandali presently teaches Political Science as senior lecturer at R. G. Boruah College, Guwahati and Mrs. Bhattacharya teaches folk dance in Department of Music, Govt of Assam, Guwahati. Let's hope, initiatives of the artists duo get dividend in establishing Sattriya as a rich art-form in the global cultural arena.

A state level workshop on Borgeet has been started at Guwahati from September 16. Kesabananda Goswami inaugurated the workshop at Guwahati Press Club by lightening the lamp. State College of Music has organized the workshop with the collaboration of Cultural Affairs of Assam. Citizen Journalism (CJ) and application of new media technology are the new age of communicating issues that impact lives of people on a daily basis. This message on plural and a more democratic media emerged out of a series of recently concluded CJ training workshops.
