Youth killed brutally at Dharamtul : Irate people vandalize four lane construction office

An youth named Manabendra Nath of Sholmaree village under Morigaon district has been killed brutally on June 16th by some miscreants at Dharamtul . His body has been found in a shocking state nearby Bishnu Mandir at Dharamtul under Dharamtul police station.It is learnt that a Science graduate late Manabendra joined a four lane construction company ‘Madhucon’ of Hyderbad which has its base camp at Ahatguri in the same district, two months ago as Line Superviser. Since his joining , Manabendra had been protesting the company’s anti-assamese activities, and the poor quality of construction works. He had also war of words with the Managing Director of the company’s base camp Rajesh Kumar Singh, a man from Bihar, several times.


It is worth to be mentioned that Rajesh Kumar Singh passed many negative comments on Assamese people as well as the Assamese society and sold the company’s materials such as iron rod, cement ,sand, chip etc. meant for construction works in the market illegally. The local people alleaged that Manabendra was murdered by a team led by the MD Rajesh Kumar Singh. They said to this correspondeant that the youth knew each corruption going on inside the company’s base camp at Ahatguri under R K Singh which is why he was threatened to death several times by the MD.


Meanwhile, the local people on June 17th vandalized ‘Maducon’s base camp at Ahatguri and destroyed a computer set, several vehicles including one bike. The people also took out a protest rally carrying Manabendra’s lifeless body and blocked NH 37 for one hour. Later the SP of Morigaon visited the spot and assured the people to punish the guilt soon following which people opened the road for vehicles. Till now 17 persons have been arrested by police in this connection.

Bibekananda Bhattacharya, an eminent tabla player, passed away at his Nagaon, Amolapatty residence at around 8 am on September 28. Bhattacharya, who was immensely popular for his immeasurable skill on tabla playing in the cultural field of not only in his home state but also in other parts of the country, was 77 at the time of death.
