Gopal Aata ground is ready to receive 30 lakh vaishanavites

The Srimanta Sankardeva Snagha is the largest religious and socio-cultural organization of North East India, which was established in 1930 to popularized the philosophy and culture of the Great Assamese Vaishanab saint Srimanta Sankardeva and now it has at least 40 lakh followers in Assam.

The 78th bi-Annual conference of the sangha will start from 11-14 February 2009, at Gopal Aata ground of Dorika Pathar in Simaluguri. Preparation for the conference is almost complete now. According to the reception committee around 30 Lakh people (including Vaishanav devotees) will gathered here and the committee will try to do their best to receipt all the people. Mr. Drupad Borgohain, local MLA, Nazira will inaugurate the function on 11th Feb., all MLA’S of the Sivasagar District, union Minister Mr. B.K. Handique, Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi , Forest Minister Mr. Rokibul Hussain will also present in the conference along with other dignitaries.

The Nazira Press Club in association with the Freelance Journalists' Association of Nazira organized a programme on Wednesday in an effort to interact with all the municipal candidates who are contesting in the forthcoming civil elections. Around 300 people gathered in front of the Nazira Natya Mandir to understand the views and plans of the contesting candidates.

Villagers recovered a dead body of a 16 year old girl Tuesday morning from the Nahorhabi Tea Estate in Lakwa. The girl identified as Rashmi Munda went missing since January 25 under suspicious circumstances. Villagers claim the girl was raped before murder.
