The ULFA sponsored statewide shutdown call ended peacefully on Saturday. ULFA’s the anti- talk faction led by Paresh Baruah to gave the call to oppose Sonia Gandhi’s visit to participate in the first anniversary function of the Gogoi Government. The group also triggered a bomb blast in Tinsukia district Friday night killing one person. Amid tight security arrangements, Gandhi, as scheduled, addressed a huge gathering at Sarusojai stadium. A 27 years old youth was found dead at Landakhunda village, bordering Assam-Meghalaya, under Dhupdhara police station in Goalpara district early in the morning today. The youth was shot dead by unidentified gunmen as two marks of bullet holes on his chest. The body was found lying on a village road with both of his hands were tightened with his own shirt. Later, the deceased youth was identified as Dipankar Rabha of the same village.
