Community feast: During the progrramme traditional Assamese snacks like “Peetha” and “Tilor Ladoo” was served. After the cultural progrramme, people enjoyed traditional Assamese Food.

I was the part of the night and it was a wonderful experience being there. A bunch of enthusiastic people trying to keep the "Real Asom" in their heart staying away from home even in these busy days. I salute to all those parents who kept the assamese culture alive in the heart of their kids... Jai Aai Asom...

3 blasts rock lower Assam; 2 injured

Three blasts early in the morning have dampened the spirit of the 62nd Independence Day celebrations in Assam. According to information, two blast have jolted Dhubri in the morning. Assam Accord: AASU strike ends in Guwahati

The AASU leaders have ended their strike they launched on Thursday in protest against the government failure to implement the Assam Accord which was signed 23 years ago.The leaders have come down heavily on the Union government for not keeping its promise on the Assam accord. 23 years of Assam Accord: AASU staging demo in the city

The All Assam Students Union activists are sitting in strike in the city from Thursday morning in protest the government failure to implement the Assam Accord which was signed by AASU and the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi 23 years ago. AASU leaders said 23 years have passed since the Accord was signed but the main clauses have been remaining unimplemented. Illegal migrants have not been detected and deported and also the Indo-Bangla has not been sealed and also the borders are still remaining porous. The strike will end on Friday.

AGP executive meeting on Aug 26

The Asom Gana Parishad is convening its executive body meeting on August 26 which is expected to receive the unification report being prepared by a panel of the party. Set up to finalise the process for unification of regional parties, the party asked in the panel to submit its findings by two months. Later the period for submission of the report was extended. The committee is expected to submit its unification report in this executive body meeting.

KLNLF cadre arrested in Boithalangsu

Army have apprehended a hardcore KLNLF cadre from Baithalangsu area in Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday morning. According to information, the rebel has been identified as Theangji Timung and on the basis of his statement, later army recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from a hideout.

Nilakshi murder case: Police under attack

Police role in the gruesome murder case of actress Nilakshi Sarma have come in for sharp criticism. A committee set to demand a judicial probe in the case has alleged that police have been trying to shield those involved in the gruesome murder of the actress.According to allegation, the FIR lodged by the Nilakshi’s family members is missing under some mysterious circumstances. They alleged that all these have been done only to protect the accused people. Five Muslim bodies back drive against B’deshis

The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad and five other organizations of the indigenous Muslim people urged the people not to communalize the drive against Bangladeshi immigrants in the state.
