Magsaysay Award winner and activist Arvind Kejriwal will be attending a programme on Right to Information organized by Krishak Mukti Sangram Sammitee (KMSS) at the Sudmarson Hall (Cotton College) on 3rd January. The programme shall start from 1 PM onwards. KMSS has been working with RTI for last couple of months and has been able to outburst many cases of corruption by using it. It is interesting to note that the Government of Assam has not appointed anyone as the Chief Information Commissioner for Assam. RTI has become a vibrant tool for the social activist around the country.
North East Youth Foundation is organising second Saraighat Film Festival (SFF) on 1st and 2nd November in Guwahati. SFF shall screen documentaries made by young people and best documentary shall win prize money apart from other prizes. Any young person up to the age of 30 may join the festival by sending their short films. Maximum duration is 15 minutes and themes are poverty, human rights, livelihood, etc. Interested may send their movies by 29th October. Certificates and prizes would be given to all shortlisted documentaries and special prizes are for winners and viewer’s choice award.
