At least five persons died and more than 30 others have been injured when three blast rocked Guwahati before the arrival of Union home minister P Chidambaram on Thursday evening.

The first one took place at around 3-30 in the afternoon at Birubari area here three persons have been injured. The bomb as kept inside a GMC dustbin.

This was followed but the blast at Bhotnath where three persons and ten others have been injured. It as planted on a bi-cycle which exploded at around 5-30 in the evening.

Minutes after it, another bomb rocked Bhanagarh area where three dead and 30 injured. The bomb exploded under the flyover.

The people of Assam fill totaly unsecuired in the condition of the serial bomb blast. To stop these type of rock, goverment as well as common people should aware. Goverment should control by any means extrimist and the illegal foreiners problems.

Well said.And we didnt have ambulance service from the government till now! The Mritunjay service, has been introduced late dec 2008!Wow! Such progress!

@ALL Can you please talking about the problem and blaming the Govt? What have we done from our part to root out this menace? we keep on giving solution from our end in different forums and discussion in various forums and never try to implement those things and just try to blame others and just speak, speak and speak about it. <NO ACTION, & NO REACTION> So here we should try to Act and just not speak about it and forget the next day.

The Asom Gana Parishad demands early steps to seal the Indo- Bangladesh border to help the state check unabated illegal immigration from across the border. The Kamrup judicial magistrate on Friday convicted Amarjyoti Kalita along with ten others in the infamous GS Road molestation case that rattled the nation in June The court, however, acquitted journalist Gauravjyoti Neog and three others in the case where a groups of youths molested a girl on the streets in full view of the people.

At least eight persons sustained injury when a powerful IED exploded blast in Udalgiri district on Tuesday. The explosion took place at a 'Raas-leela' pandal at around 8 in the evening. The four injured were rushed to a local hospital where condition of two is stated to be serious. The blast took place just few metres away from Udalgiri police station and the bus stand. No militant group has so far taken responsibility for the blast.

Newspapers hawkers have called off the strike on Tuesday. The development came up after they struck fresh deal with the agents. For the last three days, news papers did not reach the homes of the city's readers for the third consecutive day on Sunday and Monday as hawkers continued their indefinite strike over a dispute with newspaper distributing agencies on payment. The advertisement, issued in some local papers on November 29, had said hawkers were not making payments by claiming that customers were not paying their bills at the end of the month.
