Tezpur : On 25th July,2007 All Assam Hills Tribal Council had organised a meeting in Sonitpur District in village Missamari. Benudhar Tumung, President and Nripen Ingti General Secretary of All Assam Hills Tribal Council was present in the meeting. In the meeting the Sonitpur District Committee has form to work for the Hills People living in plains. The new unit was formed with Chikari Terang as President and Sarching Teron as General Secretary.All Assam Hills Tribal Council is Non Government, non religious, non political organisation. The Head Office is at Guwahati. The Organisation is working for the upliftment of Hills people living in Plains.

I am an student studing in IISER-KOLKATA. I m very much keen to join a NGO like above given and want to work on upliftment of our people.

First, tribals have to work hard.
Tribals are not competent farmers. So, Bangladeshis are prospering in our agriculture sector.
Look at the agricultural produce of Kharupetia near Mangaldoi town. Bangladeshis have taken over agriculture. They are not only good at growing crops and vegetables but also know to sell them.
What is the use of forming so many tribal organisations when the ground reality is lack of work culture among tribals?

Border Security Force and its counterpart in Bangladesh discussed a slew of issues relating to the Indo-Bangla border Karimganj district on Monday.According to information on Tuesday, the Border Security Force was represented by DIG, Silchar sector, Mahipal Singh while the Bangladesh Rifles delegation was led by its Sylhet sector Commander C K Ubaidulla Hassan at the meeting held at Sutarkandi Trade Centre. Police have apprehended two car lifters in the city's Udalbakra area during an operation on Monday. During the interrogation, both the lifters are reportedly making some startling revelations than could help the police bust the racket. The lifters apprehended are namely Amar Das and Zakir Hussain.

Four people of a same family died in Sivasagar district when they consumed mushroom on Saturday. According to information, the incident took place at Jiamari Palengi gaon in Demow near Rajmai. Peace broker and MASS leader Lachit Bordoloi has been arrested under the National Security Act on Sunday accusing him of link with ULFA. Mr Bordoloi was detained in Moran in February following a set of confessional statements by ULFA cadre Manoj Tamuly. Hundreds of teachers working with the of the state's non provincialised schools will block the National Highway and railway April 2 saying the government has yet to respond to their agitation.Addressing a press conference on Friday in the city, the united body of the teachers of these schools said altogether 16,153 non provincialised schools have been striking for government steps to provincialsation.They said the decision to this effect had been taken after the failure of the Thursday's Assembly gherao where many teachers were prevented from arriving Dispur.
