Workshop on Entrepreneurship and Patents held at ADBU

Guwahati: A two-day national workshop on entrepreneurship and patents organized by the Assam Don Bosco University's IPR Cell and Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) concluded on 4th June. The event was catalysed and supported by the Patent Information Centre (PIC), Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC). The workshop was conducted on 28th May 2022 and 4th June 2022. The workshop was held to spread awareness of patents, increase patent filings from the region, and to encourage the spirit of self-employment among the students.

On the first day of the workshop, Mr. Achintya Kumar Baruah, Chief Programme Coordinator, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati, delivered a talk on 'Entrepreneurship', Mr. Ratul Borah, Founder and CEO, Elecnovo Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, delivered a talk on "Business Opportunities in the Electric Vehicles Sector", and Partha Pratim Pathak, Director, Fresh Air Waste Management Service Pvt. Ltd. Guwahati delivered a talk on "Converting Student Projects to Business Ventures: A Success Story".

On the second day of the workshop, Dr. Jupi Gogoi, Associate Professor, National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, delivered a talk on "Basics of Patents, and Patent Registration In India", Dr. V.Agalya, Professor and Associate Head R&D, New Horizon College of Engineering, Bengaluru, delivered a talk on "IP Identification, and Converting Research/Project Works into Patents", and Mr. Siddhartha Devnath, Scientist-C, Patent Information Centre, ASTEC, demonstrated how patents are drafted.

A workshop on "Manuscript Preparation and Painting in Sankari art form" was hed on July 9-13 at Dhing College, Nagaon. In a major development, NCERT has formally promised to include Srimanta Sankaradeva in school curriculum. They have communicated it to Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva (SSS). Chandra Sadayat, Prof and Head, Deptt of Education in Languages (DEL), NCERT informed SSS President Dr Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti about it in a letter.
