Dilapidated condition of Margherita Bazaar

After 75 years of our country's independence, where the BJP government at the union and state level are celebrating "Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav," petty vendors in Margherita Town are putting their lives at risk by sitting near railway tracks to sell their products. Daily trains such as the Intercity, Demo, and other express move from Ledo to Tinsukia between Margherita town.

Arun Rastogi, president of Bajrang Dal, Margherita Unit, said that after 75 years of our country's independence no government has been able to build a permanent market shed at Margherita town, which is very unfortunate where regularly 1,000 petty traders and hawkers by taking risk sell their products near railway tracks.

Saheb Dayal Verma, a small shopkeeper in Margherita said that Margherita Bazaar, which falls under Ward Number 5 of Margherita Municipal Board's non-development work, took place twice during the Congress Kar sewa and BJP ruled Margherita Municipal board.

At Margherita Bazaar, there is no proper drainage system, poor parking facilities and encroachment of roads by shopkeepers. We have written to the administration (civil), municipal board and MLA but they don't pay any attention to the problems we face. The sky rocketing of essential commodities has paralyzed the general population where price increases have happened in grocery items, vegetables, petroleum products, LPG cylinders, medicines, construction items and clothes. This has happened since the formation of a BJP-led government at both the center and state.
