Congress and BPF are likely to win the Rajya Sabbha polls slated for Friday.AIUDF legislator Ataur Rahman Majarbhuyan has confirmed that he won’t be able to vote on Friday. He is scheduled to arrive in Guwahati only in the evening. He has also faxed his message to his personal assistant on Thursday afternoon.But by then the polling is set to be over. His vote was crucial for the Opposition consensus candidate Haidor Hussain. AIUDF leadership was also expecting his arrival on Thursday evening. But that will hardly happen. Now the Congress and BPF camp is upbeat with his absence. 
KMSS president Akhil Gogoi has dared Congress legislators to defeat Dr Sanjoy Sinh in the Rajya Sabha polls on Friday.Participating at a dharna in Dispur on Thursday, Gogoi said that the Congress leaders in Assam should shoulder on the historic responsibility to defeat the outsider.  
All Assam Students Union took out huge processions across the state on Thursday in protest against the fielding of Dr Sanjay Sinh in the Rajya Sabha polls slated for Friday.AASU activists in the district and sub divisional headquarters took out processions opposing the fielding of Dr Sinh who hails from UP.In Guwahati also, thousands of AASU activists joined the procession in the city. Hundreds of KMSS activists staged dharna in Dispur in protest against the fielding of Dr Sanjay Sinh in the Rajya Sabha polls slated for Friday.Led by Akhil Gogoi, the KMSS activists squatted in front of the Assam Assembly and strongly criticized Congress legislators and leaders for fielding an outsider in the polls.Talking to reporters, Gogoi said that they won’t allow any horse trading to take place in the Rajya Sabha polling process.
