#Covid-19: Online mental development sessions for students

Silchar: Ever since the lockdown has been imposed, this question has been constantly doing the rounds in the minds of the parents that, what can you do during a lockdown?

To ensure that these months are not a total write-off for students, the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the bodies under it are encouraging teachers and students to attempt studying online.

As the regulators are scrambling to salvage an academic calendar shredded by COVID-19, a Silchar based school is trying come up with a unique way to cope up with this pressure. Apart from uploading and maintaining regular online study materials, home assignments and indoor extra-curricular activities, Ramanuj Vidyamandir in Silchar is planning to organize online sessions by renowned child psychiatrists and personality developers in order to spread awareness amongst the parents on how to lead their wards into productive outcomes during this crucial lockdown period.

Speaking to Assam Times, Principal of Ramanuj Vidyamandir, Diptiman Biswas said, “Our faculty is constantly working on creating and distributing online worksheets and academic modules that are intended to help our students so that the Covid19 scare does not shred the academic calendar and its progress into pieces.”

“We are uploading the online home assignments in our Facebook Page so that the guardians as well as the students can access them from their respective homes and make sure that their wards do not lag behind the schedule. In the first leg, classes from KG to 5th standard are being covered on essential subjects like maths, science and English.” He added.

Biswas further mentioned that, “In coordination with the management and other governing bodies, we have come to the conclusion that in order to contain the mental scare and stress amongst parents and the students, we are trying our best to organise live online personality development sessions conducted by child psychiatrists who would precisely provide tips and guideline to the guardians in order to tackle this critical situation where an enormous amount of mental stress has gripped everyone.”

It may be mentioned that, most academic instructions are now resorting to online tutorials and home assignments in order to stay at par with the developments of the academic calendar.
