CAB Row: Five protesters held in Kokrajhar
KOKRAJHAR: Police arrested five protesters in Kokrajhar on Wednesday who burnt effigies of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019.
Activists and members from All Assam Nath Yogi Students Union carried out a protest demonstration along the JD Road near District Computer centre in Kokrajhar against the CAB bill and burnt effigies of Sonowal and Sarma. The protestors staged protest demonstration with shouting slogans demanding early withdrawal of the bill.
The protestors violated CrPC 144 clamp in the district", said a senior police officer.

KOKRAJHAR: The first-ever Bodoland International accuracy Paragliding championship-2019 began from Monday at Dangdupur Hill, Kokrajhar district. 68 participants, including nine countries, are participating the championship.
There are 22 foreign paragliders including four women in the international championship are from China (5), Indonesia (6), Nepal (4), Korea (5), Japan (1) and Taiwan (1). The host India have 46 participants who are coming from Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim.

Five-day long Bodoland International Accuracy Paragliding Championship will be held from Sunday at Dangdupur Hill, Kokrajhar. 130 participants from ten different countries are going to participate in the event which will showcase attractive paragliding events.
The participating countries includ China, Indonesia, Hongkong, Singapore, Japan,Taiwan, Korea, Nepal, Malaysia and Mongolia.
The event is being organised by tourism department of Bodoland Territorial Council administration.

Kokrajhar: A sea of humanity is seeing along the Samoka Irrigation sluice gate River bank to participate in the community fishing near Bishmuri in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. The community fishing saw like festivity since early morning.

KOKRAJHAR: Tarang Swrang Club, Taranguri defeated Kokrajhar Veteran Sports Club (KVSC) 2-0 in the final match of 7th edition Jatin Islary memorial running shield football tournament-2019 held on Sunday at Kokrajhar. KOKRAJHAR: The All BTC Minority Students Union (ABMSU) has demanded proper implementation of the 6th Clause of the historic Assam Accord with letter and spirit.
ABMSU also demands clarification of the terms 'indigenous' (Khilongia) which has been marked in the Assam Accord.
Speaking to the media at Kokrajhar Press Club on Thursday, ABMSUB president Abu Sayed Anchari and secretary Nazrul Islam said that the people of the state wants properly implementation of the 6th Clause of the Assam Accord which was regarded as a 'raksha kabash' in the state.
