Festival of North East in Mumbai

The 1st Northeast Unsung Heroes Red Carpet social award 2019 is going to be held in Mumbai on November 15. 24 Unsung Heroes of 8 states of North East India will be recognized for their silent contribution to the society. Shri. Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra and Shri Kiren Rijiju, Hon’ble Minister of State (I/c) Youth Affairs & Sports and many other sports personality, Bollywood celeb and Change -Makers of the country will attend the event.

Founder Rebecca Changkija Sema has started the journey with her Home state Nagaland and then in Sikkim, she is quite excited to see her Brain- child growing every year.

Co-organiser Jutikaa Mahanta, who has been working tirelessly for decades in promoting Assam and entire North East in various platform Nationally and Internally is equally excited for the event  “ this is our humble effort towards National Integration and encourage the Unsung Hearoes of our Region in the financial capital of the county.”. Literary Exchange exponent who is also the International Coordinator for Asom Sahitya Sabha says “ Let us uplift each other and grow together. Every community help each other to grow and this is the high time that we all North Eastern must learn and follow it”. The mother of two further ads “being based in Mumbai, I do have a moral responsibility to promote and uplift my land, I try best through my initiative “Bollywood Couch’ which is a platform to promote the aspiring creative talent of Assam and entire North East and now we are all set with our NE Unsung Heroes Red Carpet Social Awards on this Friday- 15th of Nov.”.

When it comes to Assam there 3 are awardees from the state ( we are inviting 3 awardees from each states in these categories : Sports, Education, Art & Culture, Entertainment, Entrepreneurship and Governance ) From Assam we have received more than 15 nominations and our independent  jury have gone through each profile and selected the right candidate for the event.

Our esteem Jury members are Dr. Rupam Sharma. Principal Scientist, CIFE, Mrs . Ireni Akoijam. Technical Director. National Informatics Center. Govt of India . Shri. Samudra Gupta Kashyap , Journalist/Author, Shri . Akashaditya Lama . Film Director /Writer and social activities , O R Shallom Social Worker and community leader.

3 Awardees from Assam are namely: 

  1. Mr. Dibya Jyoti Bhagawati in the category of Sport.
  2. Mr.Dharam Sing Teron : in the category of Art & Literature
  3. Ms Leena Doley : in the category of Governance.

All three awardees have been working silently for decades and contributing substantially towards the community. Mr Bhagawati has been training young sports aspirant of Assam for decades. Similarly, Mr Teron has been working towards promoting Karbi folk and literature. Mr Leena Doley has been contributing not only from her designated chair but going beyond in empowering women of Assam. We congratulate each one them and wish to see them continuing the good job in future as well and inspre many others.

In a huge respite for Rakesh Paul, the Supreme Court on Wednesday granted bail to the former Assam Public Service Commission eight months after Dibrugarh police caught him on cash for job scam.  A three judge bench of the country’s top court granted bail to Paul with no restrictions on the police to rearrest him in connection to other case. The All Assam Students Union is all set to hold its tripartite talks with Delhi and Dispur on April 25 to ensure a speedy implementation of the Assam Accord in letter and sound spirit. But the main clause of the historic Accord is unlike to dominate the talks in the capital to be chaired by Union home minister Rajnath Singh in view of a set of petitions before the Supreme Court challenging 1971 as the cut off date to detect and deport the immigrants. The North Guwahati police have arrested two IITGuwahati students on molestation charges during a recent festival inside the campus of the country’s premier seat of science and technology.
