Kali Puja and Dipawali celebration in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The Kali Puja and Dipawali festival was celebrated in Kokrajhar, heart of BTAD administration today with lighting reflections and beautiful showcase of fire crackers.

The Kali Puja and Dipawali have been celebrating as festival of lights and offered prayer and worship to the Goddess Kali.

Various Puja mandhaps have been decorated with beautiful lighting scenes where devotees and visitors thronged at the mandhap to offer prayer and worship during the celebration.

Buildings are seeing illuminated with lighting reflections which has made strong amusement amongst the citizens.

Women devotees designed and create attractive arts in their respective residential complex and street buildings.

The Kali Puja and Dipawali festival was organised at Thanapara Kali mandir with a week long programme scheduled in Kokrajhar.

Meanwhile,district administration,Kokrajhar and police administration have been keeping strong observation to maintain healthy law and order environment in the district during the puja celebration.

District administration has promulgated 144 CrPC in the district to maintain peace and tranquility amongst all sections of the society.

On the other hand,several students union and social organisation including Bodoland Students Union,Bodoland Janajati Suraksha Mancha have urgedupon the district administration to check anti-social activities,gambling activities during the puja festival celebration.

They demanded strict initiatives against the anti-social incidents,gambling environment and make a healthy society.

Assam Social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma, ABSU president Pramod Boro,BTC executive members Rajiv Brahma,Bonzar Daimary,social activist Jyotika Brahma,Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary have extended their Kali Puja and Dipawali greetings to all citizens of the state on the occasion.

Altogether 36 students were expelled for taking unfair means in Monday’s mathematics  examination in the HSLC examination in Kokrajhar district. JMB threat in BTAD!

The Assam police force is well prepared to thwart any disruptive strike by JMB which is believed to have been trying to make its presence felt in the state. Talking to reporters in Kokrajhar on Monday, additional DGP (BTAD) Dr LR Bishnoi said policemen have been remaining alert in BTAD areas acting on the inputs. Eviction at Manas National Park

A massive eviction drive was carried out at Saliagaon near Boro bazaar under Bhuyanpara forest range in Manas National Park on Saturday which drew strong protest from public during the eviction, which force forest department to  lift the eviction after 11 am. Teak logs seized in BTAD

Despite stringent measures smuggling of forest resources refuses to die down. That too in Kokrajhar, the home district of forest minister Pramila Rani Brahma. Local residents in Chitila seized many teak logs brought yo be smuggled outside on Friday wee hours. According to information, acting on information, a group of alert ABMSU activists rushed to the spot where they came too see seven teak logs beside a river which were believed to have been brought to smuggle in Chitilaghop village. ABMSU leaders along with the local residents informed the police who took these logs away to Kokrajhar police station.

10 students expelled in Kokrajhar

Ten students were expelled for taking unfair means and a teacher was suspended in the HSLC examination which has begun from on  Friday. Kidnappers arrested in Kokrajhar

Two kidnappers were apprehended at a joint operation of Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon district police today from Salakati area of Kokrajhar district, who were main accused person of kidnapping a person namely Nabin Jain of Bongaigaon on Monday last.Prakash Medhi,deputy superintendent of police,Kokrajhar said that Nabin Jain(31) of Bongaigaon was kidnapped by unidentified miscreants on Monday last and accordingly a case was registered with Bongaigaon PS Case No. 130/2017 U/S-365 IPC.
