Flood submerge parts of Kokrajhar town

Kokrajhar; Flood waters submerged at various villages,residential areas in Kokrajhar town and its adjoining due to heavy rain fall and river waters wave flowing high along the Gaurang rivers, Sankosh, Saralbhanga Rivers in Kokrajhar district.Jawans from SDRF and local police are busy in rescue operation to rescue the flood affected peoples.

 Flood waters covered up all roads like JD Road,RNB Road,Vivekananda Path in Kokrajhar town. Several residential areas and business institutes are filled with waters including Basic Training Centre(BTC), Thanapara, Santinagar in Kokrajhar town. The waters of the Gaurang River,Saralbhanga,Keleng,Gongia,Sangkosh rivers are flowing above the danger level. The rain waters flooded at several villages including Kanthalguri,Shukanjhora,Ghoskata,Soamoipara,Medhipara,Mahajanpara.

The heavy rains have affected all road communication, bazaar etc in the district. The flood occurred due to heavy raining since Monday. The flood waters have been engulf new areas in the district as heavy rain is continuing since Monday morning. Citizens said that the Kokrajhar flood is so high, it is seeing first time in Kokrajhar. The flood waters washed away houses and creating hardships in their living.

SDRF jawans are strongly involved with rescue operation at Kokrajhar Baghichagaon as many peoples were stranded at their houses due heavy flood. The SDRF jawans reached the spot in the morning and started their rescue jobs and rescued peoples, domestic animals and properties. District administration, Kokrajhar and disaster management authorities are working hard to make necessary rescue the flood affected peoples. A NDRF team from Guwhati is arrived in Kokrajhar to make rescue operation in the region.

Deputy Commissioner,Kokrajhar Partha Pratim Mazumdar told that district administration is fully ready to tackle flood situation and rescue operations are continue at the flood affected areas.He said that several relief camps are to be set up in the flood affected areas and necessary measures are initiated to the affected region. He said that a NDRF team is reached in Kokrajhar for flood affected reason.He informed all officials from district administration and disaster managements are involved to take stock about flood affected situation.He told that several relief camps have been opened at various places.

Assam Social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma has made visit at several flood affected areas like Dangarkuti,Banargaon,Dhuramari,Magajanpara,Medhipara villages.

She took stock about flood affected peoples and assured for necessary initiatives from the state government to the flood affected situation.She said that the flood washed away several villages and eroded road communication.

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district. Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language. Dr. Boro has been named for the translation of her book Hirimba (originally written in Assamese by Jayanti Gogoi) Presently, Boro is the head of the department of Bodo at Bodoland University. Amid a strict security vigil, arrested Gujrat Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani was brought to Kokrajhar police station and later produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court. KOKRAJHAR: A Ganja smuggler was shot at by police in the Bishmuri area of Kokrajhar district late Wednesday night. The incident happened  in Kokrajhar in Bishmuri. KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.. The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar. BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar. Pramod Boro, the president of the United People’s Party of Luwahati, filed a complaint against  Mohilary, the former chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, at the court of CJM Kokrajhar for making derogatory remarks about him in February 2020.
