Teacher's indefinite class boycott enters seventh day in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: Indefinite protests continues in Kokrajhar Music & Fine Arts College which entered its seventh day. The boycott strike carried out by teaching staff demanding provincialisation of the college and appointment of permanent principal.

On the other hand, the students are also protesting in front of the college seeking early withdrawal of the class boycotts by teachers  and appointment of permanent principal in the College.

The strike has been affecting students fully as no classes and attendance of the teachers saw nill in the College since May 29.The College was established in 1996 and got concurrence in 2001 and since then urging state government for provincialisation.Till today, 23 year passed out,yet no any initiative was taken away for the College.

 A total 40 staffs, including teaching and non teaching are rendering their services in the College since it's inception seeing healthy educational environment in the region.

Teachers have expressed their affirmed that they will would continue their indefinite class boycott till achieve of written assurance from the state government over college's provincialisation immediate.The strikes of the teachers and students are continuing in the College,yet no any measures as well response reach from state government and local BTAD administration till today.

Students of the College continued their  protest dharna in front of the College with displaying music instruments like Kham,Shifung,Serja,Jotha etc and presented their music display.

Students with banner,placards participated te protests and shouted slogans,on demanding withdrawal of the class boycott and appointment of permanent principal in the College.

Agitated students alleged that due to insincerity from state government and local BTAD administration, said that students are deprived their due classes and some other curicullum activities and urged the teachers to make withdrawal of the class boycotts and examination by teachers who are in indefinite class boycott agitation since May 29.

Notably,the students have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam seeking early solutions of the College through the Deputy Commissioner,Kokrajhar. But,no good response and well gesture reached till today from state government and BTAD administration.

"We would continue our protests in the college untill and unless getting solutions of the demands of the college issues", said agitated students.

Students urged the state government and BTAD administration to take strong initiative to make provincialisation and held healthy educational environment in the College.

Amid a strict security vigil, arrested Gujrat Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani was brought to Kokrajhar police station and later produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court. KOKRAJHAR: A Ganja smuggler was shot at by police in the Bishmuri area of Kokrajhar district late Wednesday night. The incident happened  in Kokrajhar in Bishmuri. BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar.
