Nazira town was shut down for two hours
People of Nazira condemned the barbaric terror attack on CRPF convoy in J&K in which many of CRPF jawans have been martyred. A candle light programme was organised to pay homage to the martyrs, in front of Nazira Natya Mandir on Friday. Nazira town was shut down for two hours on Saturday to honour the sacrifice of the martyrs.

In Nazira rural some 50 per cent people are not aware of the NRC updation. The indigenous communities have kept away from collecting NRC data from available sources on the pretext that they are indigenous. They perceive it as a matter of insult to their native origin and ego.Similar is the condition of the indigenous populations of the district of Sibsagar. A handicraft and handloom fair is pulling huge crowd in Nazira where local products seem to have been received good response.People in large number have visited the week long fair at Nazira MC Club from May 5 organized by industry and commerce department.  The focus of attraction was the saler-buyer meet where both sides shared their views.  Talking to Assam Times assistant director of industry department Babul Hazirika said the response was encouraging.
