U-14 school football at Baasugaon from Nov 27

Kokrajhar: Preparations have got underway to host 64th National School Games-2018 of football U-14 at Jawahar Navadaya Vidyalaya(JNV),Ranchaidham Basugaon in Kokrajhar with four day long programme scheduled from November 27.

Altogether 550 participants are participating  from 31 states across the country in the mega school games,which was organised by School Games Federation of India(SGFI) to create sporting talents in the nation.The mega event will witness 62 matches during the four day scheduled and to be organised at six-grounds,apart from JNV groound,Goybari Jwhwlao Club ground,JSB Bangaldoba ground,Basugaon HS School ground,CDSA Kajalgaon ground stadium and Kashikotra HS School ground.

Speaking the reporters at a Press Conference held at JNV Ranchaidham on Sunday, Consultant of Navaday Vidyalaya Samiti(head quarter,Noida) Manikuntala Sarkar, Deputy Commissioner of Shillong Region JNV RK Gupta told that the school games will be organised with a scheduled manner. Sarkara said that necessary arrangements and preparations are over to accord warm welcome to the participants and officials of the event.She said that 29 referees and five extra officials from Assam fotball association have been deputed to meet healthy organise of the national event.

BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary will grace as chief guest on the inaugural day to inaugurate the national games.Assam Toursim minister Chandan Brahma,BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary,BK Singh,Commissioner of NavadayaVidyalaya Samiti are attending as guests.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest. Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar.
