Pak journalist Munir Ahmed to attend GPC program

Guwahati: Pakistan’s well-known journalist, broadcaster, expert on policy advocacy, strategic and corporate communications, Munir Ahmed will interact with the member-journalists of Guwahati Press Club (GPC) on Friday. The proactive journalist will be available through video conferencing from Islamabad between 3 and 5 pm (Indian time) on November 9, 2018.

A regular contributor to Daily Times, radio and participant to programs of PTV and other national news channels, Ahmed inspired the authority to adopt Pakistan’s first ever National Conservation Strategy, National Housing Policy, National Environment Protection Act, National Sustainable Development Strategy etc.

He is the founder of Development Communications Network and also Pakistan Mountain Festival. Fluent in Urdu and English, Ahmed penned many short stories, poems as well. He is expected to talk about Pakistani media in general, Islamabad’s traditional approach to India and possibilities ahead of both the neighbors.

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake jolted Nagaland on Thursday striking panic button for many people in the north eastern hills state.  The earthquake, which originated in Zuhenboto district struck the state at 13.08 hours forced many people to come out of the high rise buildings in the urban areas. There is, however, no report of any casuslty or loss of property.

The rains have relented much to a major respite. But the flood waters have refused to recede putting more and more people in dire trouble. The overflowing waters of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries still keep wreaking havoc among in 25 district with a toll of 25 during the last four days. Defying rebel diktat, Assam is gearing up to celebrate the Independence Day with a massive security arrangement on Tuesday.  Police and para military forces are fanning in the nook and corner of the north eastern state where ULFA(I) and NDFB-S along with other north eastern rebel outfits announced general strike asking the people to boycott the celebration.  The capital city of Guwahati is being fortified with  security forces stepping up checking and patrolling.
