ULFA-I network suffers setback

Namrup: Despite an intensive counter insurgency operation rebel elements keep working in many pockets in upper Assam these days. The entire rebel network has widened extortion in Charaideo, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts forcing the security forces to step in.

Army jawans based at the Maibela camp claimed to have busted a huge rebel network which has been terrorizing the people in many areas with extortion activities.

 Acting on a specific input, the army jawans conducted a raid at the Diamond hotel in Sonari , where two linkmen were held.

Identified as Durlabh Konwar @ Moon age 23   and Niranjan Borgohain @ Nion, they were handed over to police after  a 9 mm pistol  along with a Magzine , 2 rounds of 9mm live bullets were seized from their possession.

During preliminary interrogation, the duo confessed to have assisted the rebel leaders in fresh recruitment, extortion activities apart from arms smuggling.
Army, police and para military forces have called it a huge setback for the rebel outfit fighting for an independent Assam.

Namrup: The local AGP leaders and workers in Namrup are on a massive signature campaign against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (2016) that promises citizenship to the non Muslim immigrants. Namrup: Despite an intensive counter insurgency operation, a section of  ULFA-I rebels have been moving in Dibrugarh district unleashing the fear of yet another Kujupathar like gunbattle where a police officer was killed.   Security forces apprehended a dreaded ULFA(I) rebel during a combing operation in the upper Assam district on Tuesday who is believed to have made some stunning revelation during interrogation.   Acting on a specific input, Army’s 9th Raj Rifle jawans and police launched a vigorous search operation an operation at Kachmari Hatigarh in Barbarua area where Dipanjit Handique alias Tejushree Asom was captured.
