Will take Rabha forward: Sonowal

“The Rabhas are one of the most colourful communities of Assam who are blessed with vibrant culture, heritage and rich tradition. They have enriched the cultural mosaic of the state like many other communities of the state. The harmonious coexistence of all these communities are the source of our strength. The All Rabha Sahitya Sabha session will always remain significant as it carries the message of humanism, brotherhood and harmony and the state Govt. will extend all support in taking the Rabha community forward”, this was the observation made by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while taking part as chief guest in the 34 th session of the All Rabha Sahitya Sabha here at Chibakai Satish Chandra Rabha Sumursini Mapak Dam in Tangla of Udalguri on Saturday. Sonowal further stated that he would soon sit with the representatives of All Rabha Sahitya Sabha and other leading organizations of the community in the presence of CEM of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council and elected representatives of the community to discuss about the problems plaguing the community so as to make positive interventions.

“We fully understand and realize our responsibility towards the Rabha community. The Government has a lot to do for the Rabha people”, Sonowal said. Sonowal stressed on the need of skill development among youths in a bid to enhance employability level of youths across the State which in turn will go a long way in ensuring the inclusive growth of all sections of people and employing the youths in various sectors across the nation and abroad.

Sonowal added that Knowledge and skill are two key factors for an empowered life. Socio-economic progress cannot gather pace without them .Our youth must give a new dimension to the pace of state’s development by acquiring knowledge and enhancing their skillsSonowal said that the Government is committed to live up to the expectations of the new generation. Underscoring the diverse nature of the State with numerous tribes and communities, Sonowal said it was on top of the Government’s agenda to maintain this secular fabric and the composite structure of the greater Assamese society.

Underling the inherent advantage of Assam as a state brimming with youth power, the chief minister said that economic foundation of the state would be bolstered by skilled manpower. He also underpinned the commitment of state government towards resolving the unemployability of youths and said that the state government has already ceremoniously launched 249 skill development centres and will set up 300 near future in association with Singapore government.

The Chief Minister further informed that the state government has already signed MoU with the Government of Singapore under which a skill development centre having international standard would be set up at Mangaldoi. Ten thousand youth of the state would undergo training in that centre every year.Underscoring the transparent nature of the present government he said it is people’s government we are committed towards the upliftment of the people irrespective of the caste,creed,community and religion.He further stated that the goevernmnet is committed to protect the interest of indigenous people at all costs.The Chief Minister also underpinned the zero tolerance stance of the government .

Reiterating the state governments' commitment to provide good governance to the people, the Chief Minister said that he has spearheaded the fight against corruption to ensure that the people get full benefit of the welfare schemes.“We are resolutely marching ahead in our fight against corruption. We will clean the system from Dispur to Gaon Panchyat. You will have to join hands with us”

In yet another tragic incident, a youth was trampled to death by a loner wild jumbo in Paneri Tea Estate in Udalguri at about 10 pm on Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Jaichan Kujur (25). Locals told that Kujur was confronted by the loner while he was on his way back home.
