ABSU wants end of affiliation impasse
Kokrajhar: The All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) has expressed grave concern over the affiliation impasse of 23 colleges under Bodoland University which re-clubbed with Guwahati University in a haste. In a statement ABSU education secretary Kastom Basumatary said they have been taking up the issue with due seriousness where the students in 23 Colleges are bearing the brunt.
'Harassment of students amidst hasty affiliation is committed by learned section of people for self interest in the process of higher education', Kastom said. The students union learned that the tussle of affiliation issue by the Bodoland University and Gauhati University made the students victims of misruling and the role of the state & BTAD administration is not satisfactory towards the interest of the students of higher learning.
'It was well known by the Government of Assam before issuing the permission of affiliation notification to the Bodoland University by the notification letter No. AHE 459/2016/3 from the Principal Secretary, Government of Assam, Education department. Knowing that the Bodoland University though established by the state legislation has not attained the 12B status under the UGC Act. Which further might be a problem for the already Colleges having 12B status which were affiliated under the Gauhati University',he said.
This is also fact that after retracting the affiliation of the 23 Colleges from the Bodoland University back to Guwahati University has brought the uncertainty to the future of the students studying at TDC 1st Semester. Which was decided after the meeting held with the Assam Government ABSU appeals to the Government, BTAD authorities, Bodoland University and Guwahati University not the play with the life and career of thousands of students just in the name of administrative failure and of political interest.
