Kokrajhar, Dec 9: The mortal remains of Baneswar Basumatary consigned to the flames on Saturday a day after the founding president of the All Bodo Student's Union (ABSU) and social activist passed away.
Basumatary passed away at his residence at Koklabari in Baksa district following prolonged illness on Friday. He was a dedicated teacher by profession at Koklabari HS School from 1970 and took retired in 2000.
BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary visited Basumatary’s house and paid homage to Basumatary. He has expressed his deep condolence over his death and prayed for his eternal peace.
Promod Boro,ABSU president,Urkhao Gwra Brahma,ex-Rajya Sabha MP and UPPL president, Thaneswar Basumatary, Chapaguri MLA, Rwngwra Narzary, BTC MCLA and well wishers paid last respect to Basumatary.
Basumatary’s body was cremated at his own house complex at Koklabari after performing rituals amid huge thronging of well wisher and publics.
ABSU president Promod Boro while expressing deep condolence said that late Basumatary was an individual of good personality among Bodo community. He recalled Basumatary’s contribution towards social integration and in his times that saw in the region.
