Gold medalist pugilist Ankushita Boro received a heroic welcome as she landed Kojrajhar first time after scripting history. 

BTADB administration along with several other organisations  felicitated her at a programme at the KDSA ground in the evening.

Ankushita was  felicitated at a programme held at Reality Public School,Chandamari with traditional Aronai,bunch of flowers and handed over a cheque of Rs. 50,000 as a token of appreciation by school authority in the presence of student and guardians.

BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary felicitated Ankushita with bunch of flower and and handed  over cheque of ₹7lakhs on the occasion recognising her best boxer.

Several organisations, apart from BPF, Bodo sahitya sabha, Bodo Writers Academy, Boro Somaj, ex BLT welfare society, Assam Football Association,
Ankushita Boro,Kokrajhar sports association, Kokrajhar Press club.

Mohilary said she would be made Bodoland's Sports Ambasador to gain sports enthusiastic among coming up generations. He promise to provide all possible helps  for Ankushita in the sporting career in coming days.

'BTC administration is opening Bodoland sports academy in the region which will be started by next year. For the academy,BTC administration will be spending 100 crores', Mohilary said.

 'I am preparing for the Olympic event in coming day with heart and soul. I would be a perfect boxer in the world in my life. Even though, my family face a financial hardship, yet come out with dedicated mind. My parents supported me whole heartedly. I will carry on my career to be best boxer '.

SK Brahma,CMD of Reality Public School said that the school authority organised the felicitation function to create encouragement among young generations in the region.

Dr Subash Basumatary,Director of Sports Authority of India(SAI) appealed to all present to take sports and gmaes with equal passion.He has appreciated Ankushita for her best performance in the recent concluded boxing championship.

BTC executive member Doneswar Goyary extended  best wishes on her excellent performance in the world boxing chmapionship.He said that BTC administration is felicitating her in Kokrajhar and will be extending help in her career building in near future.

Ankushita Boro,was accomapnied with parents,Kalikanta Boro,president of the Assam Boxing Association on her Kokrajhar visit.

487 at 6 Kokrajhar quarantine centres

KOKRAJHAR: Around 487 persons are being kept in the six quarantine centres set up in Kokrajhar district under strict observation with proper medical check up. The centres have been set up by district administration to check those persons who are coming from neighbouring states towards Assam in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak. KOKRAJHAR: The Diamond Jubilee celebration of Kokrajhar Govt College was concluded on Sunday with a week long programme held at the college complex. NDFB cadres lay down arms

More than sixteen hundred NDFB cadres today formally laid down arms. In a ceremony organised at GMCH auditorium in the presence of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal 1615 cadres of the outfit submitted their arms before the government authority. Welcoming them to the mainstream chief minister Sonowal hoped that the Paresh Baruah-led ULFA(I) would follow the path of the NDFB. A few days ago the government signed a tripritite peace treaty with all the factions of the NDFB. In the treaty the Centre and state government, reportedly, promised to upgrade the BTAD as BTR.

Assam bandh against UTC in BTAD

Several organisations including AAKRASU and ABAMSU have reportedly, called a 12-hour-long Assam bandh on January27 in protest against proposed UTC for BTAD. These organisations are apprehensive that the Union government is going to upgrade the BTC as UTC. Already, they have warned the Union government to abdicate such move.

Resentment over proposed UTC in BTAD

Several organistions have expressed resentment over the Centre's move to upgrade the Bodo Territorial Council as Union Territorial Council. According to sources the Centre would soon sign a peace pact with the NDFB . In the pact upgradation of the BTC as a UTC would likely to take place, sources revealed. Opposing the move AKRASU, ABAMSU and many other organistaions of the BTAD have warned the Union government to abdicate such decision. These organisations have also termed the proposal as undemocratic.

Jr. engineer arrested in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: One junior engineer posted at Kachugaon development block has been arrested by police for his alleged involvement with a massive financial scam. Archana Rongne (50), was picked up by the anti-corruption wing of the Assam police. Sources revealed that the junior engineer was arrested in connection with a case registered in the Assam Police Anti-corruption Bureau (U/S 420/409/468 of the IPC and Sec 13(1)(d)/13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act,1988 (as amended in 2018). Bodoland Taekwondo Championship celebrates Silver Jubilee

KOKRAJHAR: The Silver Jubilee celebration and  25th All Bodoland Taekwondo Championship-2019 has begun from Monday with three-days-colourful-programme scheduled at Sicknajhar Taekwondo Gymnasium, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar district.
