Manipur legislators preparing memo to Centre
Preparing of the comprehensive memorandum by the sub-committee of different political parties on the issue concerning the Indo-Naga peace talks is nearing completion, its chairman said on Friday.
Addressing media at his chamber, new Secretariat, Deputy Chief Minister and chairman of the sub-committee Y Joykumar informed that the memorandum will be first submitted to the Chief Minister in two-three days.
“Then it will be presented before the next meeting of all political parties. If approval is given on the memorandum by the meeting, it will be finally submitted to the Centre,” Joykumar said.
He said the memorandum mainly touches on no compromise on the question of territorial integrity of Manipur and no to introduction of Sixth Schedule in the state of Manipur.
The Manipur government recently set up the sub-committee consisting of seven members of different political parties in the larger interest of the people.
The sub-committee was a part of the different resolutions adopted in the recent all political party meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Biren Singh. The all-party meet was convened by the government to deliberate on the issue of territorial integrity in the matter of the ongoing peace talks between Government of India and NSCN (IM).
While welcoming a peaceful solution to the peace parleys between Government of India and NSCN (IM) without infringing upon the interests of other states, the Manipur Chief Minister had assured that his government would initiate steps to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur in letter and in spirit.
