Sonowal unveils Bhupen Hazarika statue in Hojai

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonwal on Thursday unvelied a statue and muesem of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika at Shrimanta Sankardev Kristi Vikash Kendra, Sankardev Nagar ,Hojai.

Speaking on "Samanvaya Divas" program organised in the remembrance of Sudhakanta Dr. Bhupen Hazarika by Shrimanta Sankardev Kristi Vikash Kendra Sarbananda Sonwal said," Real Tribute to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika will be when we built a Greater Assam by taking all the communities together, irrespective of caste,creed and religion."

He said,"Dr. Hazarika always taught us the lessons of humanity and advocated working for deprived ones of the society."

“Transcending the boundaries of country and region, Dr Hazarika was able to establish Assamese identity on the global cultural map and introduced the world to the music and culture of the land. It was the dream of Dr Hazarika to build a greater Assamese society based on the humanitarian values and we must strive hard to realise his dreams following his ideals of universal brotherhood.” Sonowal said.

He further said that "Government is working day and night for the over all development of the society."

Two Books " Bishwa Bandhu" and "Ramdhenu" were also unveiled in the program. 17 people were feliciated for their valuable contribution towards the society. Smile Hussain was awarded the "Deka Giri Bhata 2017" for his valuable contribution in the society.

Shiladitya Deb( MLA Hojai), Sibu Mishra (MLA Lumding), Manvendra Pratap Singh (Deputy Commissioner,Hojai District), Jayanta Bhagwati (Renowned Actor) and many other dignitaries shared the dias.
