Homage to Hazarika in Hojai

Samnavay Divas Udyapan Samittee on Sunday observed 6th Death anniversary of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika as "Samnavay Divas" at Bihutoli Mukuli Manch, Bihutoli,Hojai.

People from all the communities paid floral tribute to the maestro and earthen lamps were lit up infront of the portrait of the award winning maestro in the morning.

An Art Competition and Bhupendra Sangeet Competition were organised, where Children from different communities participated. Mahaprasad was distributed  among the people in noon.

Talking to Assam Times, Digen Kalita, a member of the committee said,"The maestro always united people of every caste,creed, religion."  

"He always transcended the barriers and tried to bind together every community with his Song."  He added

The prize were presented to the winners of different competitions in the evening

Hojai: Two wild elephants died due to lightning strike in the Lankajan Dorjeesheet area under Hojai district along the Hojai-Karbi Anglong border on Sunday night. According to information, the two tuskers came down from the forest in Karbi Anglong district in search of food and were moving in the Lankajan Dorjeesheet area but died at wee hours due to lightning.While one of the elephants is a mature male elephant, the other is a male elephant calf, aged 10 to 12 years. Hojai:- Properties worth more than  10 lakh were reduced to ashes when a devastating fire engulfed 13 houses at Pachali in Hojai. As Per information, the incident took place  at around 10:55 am on Monday. It is suspected that due to short circuit this massive fire broke out. Hojai:- People of Shabajpur area in Murajhar under Hojai District are living in panic these days due to havoc created by monkeys in the area.Since last 4-5 days several monkeys have created sensation in the area.As Per some local resident's," Due to monkeys menace they are not able to sleep, every time fear of monkeys remains because they invade their homes in search of food in night hours.They even cannot get out of their house because of attacks of monkeys as such children's of the area are unable to go the school.
