Total bandh hits Raha hard
Normal life in Raha, the name of a historic area in the central Assam district of Nagaon remains heavilly disrupted on Monday following a local bandh call by the former ULFA in protest against the recent attack on a few of their colleagues at Panigaon.
Roads in this entire sub urban area wore a deserted look from 5 in thr morning as vehicles refused to ply.
Shops and markers, schools and colleges, banks and offices remained closed under the impact of the bandh call which began at 5 in the morning.
Apprehending stray incidents, the security forces are patrolling on thr roads from early in the morning. The bandh supporters in many places are moving to enforce the call. There is no report of any incident.

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Raha police station committed suicide by shooting himself at his official residence on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Subhash Gogoi posted at Raha police station in May 21,2015. The body of the 45-year-old assistant sub-inspector was found lying in a pool of blood on his bed at around 12.10 pm. Marred by a slew of untoward incidents, the 12 hour central Assam bandh concluded on Monday evening called by 8 organizations demanding the proposed AIIMS in Raha. The untoward incident took place when a section of bandh supporters tried to enforce bandh call by pelting stones and water bottles at some vehicles on the National Highway No 37 in Raha. Two persons were injured when suspected militants lobbed a grenade on a hardware shop named Khatuwala hardware at Raha chariali on National Highway 37 on Tuesday evening police said. The suspected ultras hurled a grenade on the shop at 6.45 p.m, police said. Police said the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the entrance of the shop causing splinter injuries to two laboures of the shop. Ram Madhav, National General Secretary, BJP and Ajay Jamwal, General Secretary, BJP for NE states today visited Raha to take stock of the security scene ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Raha on April 8.
