EMFA supports scribe’s health insurance scheme
Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA) wishes early recovery of two television journalists along with a print reporter, who are presently undergoing treatments in separate city based hospitals. The forum also extends supports to the proposal forwarded by various scribe’s bodies to the State government for a comprehensive health insurance scheme for the benefit of all working journalists in Assam.
It may be noted that Gautam Hazarika from DY365 was admitted to GNRC Six-mile hospital after a brain stroke on the night of 15 August. Gautam’s health condition continues to be critical. Another journalist from the same news channel Jayanta Das suffered heart problems three days back and he is undergoing treatment at Hayat Hospital.
On the other hand, Amar Asom reporter Kushal Lahan was admitted to Apollo Hospital Guwahati following a road accident in Meghalaya few days back. Kushal shows some improvements in his condition but he would need more days to return back to quality life.
Urging the State chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal for sanctioning financial assistances to all three scribes for necessary treatments, the EMFA also appeals to media welfare organizations & individuals of the region to contribute for the treatment of ailing journalists.
It also urged the owners/managements of various news channels and newspapers of the State to extend adequate supports in realizing a contributory health insurance scheme for scribes as early as possible.

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake jolted Nagaland on Thursday striking panic button for many people in the north eastern hills state. The earthquake, which originated in Zuhenboto district struck the state at 13.08 hours forced many people to come out of the high rise buildings in the urban areas. Defying rebel diktat, Assam is gearing up to celebrate the Independence Day with a massive security arrangement on Tuesday.
