Needy families out of the reach of NFSA

Nearly 20 % percent beneficiaries are alleged to have been deprived  of the opportunity in the National Food Security Act(NFSA) in the four districts in  BTAD region. This was what BTC Executive Member for Food & Civil Supply department and Joint Director of Food & Civil Supply revealed.

The revealation came into light after Minister for Food & Civil Supply department Rihan Daimary instructed to run the NFSA scheme in a smooth manner to gain human living.

 As per registration of records in the 2011 census survey,there were issued of 5,47,769 NFSA ration cards against 22,02,498 population in the four districts of BTAD for giving away under the Prority House Hold(PHH) scheme(Now,the PHH comprises of APL,BPL,Mashi and New). On the other hand,the Antadaya Anyo Yoyana(AAY) covers 82,089 ration cards in the four districts.

The PHH scheme has been giving rice and some other materials among beneficiaries as per rules and norms from the Food & Civil Supply department.  Presently 84.17%  percent are covering in rural area and 60.35% percent is covering in urban beneficiaries. To the reports of the NFSA act,nearly 20 percent needy poor families,who are falling under earning of one-lakh per year have been deprived from getting NFSA facilities due to enjoyed by rich families in the BTAD region.

The food & civil supply department served notice to the families, who are enjoying NFSA ration cards showing their income lower than one-lakh per year. By the erved of notice, nearly 14,600 families returned their ration cards under NFSA to the concern department so far.

Banzar Daimary, BTC exective member for Food & Civil Supply department said that the department has issued a notification to the NFSA card holder,who are pretendedly holding ration cards by showing lower income one-lakh per year.

He said that Minister Daimary had a review meeting with MLAs,BTC exeutive members,Officials in the presence of Commissioner for Food & Civil Supply department in the region. He said that the meeting discussed thoroughly over the proper and smooth functioning of NFSA in the region to maintain necessary allotment among needy beneficiaries.

He said that an instruction has been issued to the concern department official to take stern action against illegally enjoying of NFSA facilities by higher income peoples.

 ‘No body would be spared,who are taking NFSA ration cards by showing lower income in the region.We are taking stern mesaures to check the equal distribution of NFSA among needy peoples’, Daimary said.

  Harekrishna Prasad,Joint Director and BTC CHD of food & civil supply department told that the department has been functioning as per registration reached to the office. He said that the NFSA is a scheme for needy citizens through which needy and priority house holds are getting facilities from the government.

The beneficiaries were shortlisted  by selection committees formed at VCDC level for rural and Municipality board member or Circle Officer in urban areas,who are authoried to select the beneficiaries for the NFSA.

He has appealed to all ration card holders,who are higher earner to surrender their NFSA cards as soon as possible to make proper use of NFSA scheme in the region.He has also warned to take legal action if beneficiaries are not return their ration cards within one month.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district.
