The current flood wave is learnt to have damaged a huge quantity of rice to the tune of 1000 quintal, stored at the Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown in Kokrajhar.
There seems to be no respite in the flood wave which brings brimful misery to the people in the BTAD areas. More rainfall keeps the rivers swelling till Friday and the surging waters have submerged more areas on every passing day.
The road communication along the JD Road in Kokrajhar town remains heavily disrupted for flood along with many residential areas. The marooned people are forced to take shelter at high places.
With just few days left to the scheduled assembly elections on April 4 and 11 next, campaigning from different parties for their candidates saw more gathered momentum among common voters in the region. Former minister, sitting MLA and BPF candidate for 31-Sidli LAC Chandan Brahma campaigned in support of his candidature at Simlaguri, Laltari area on Saturday along with alliance partnar AGP MLA Pani Bhusan Choudhury in Kokrajhar district. Brahma has claimed that he and his party is winning in all 13 contesting seats in the region and government would be formed by BPF, AGP and BJP, no doubt. He said that his party was working for all round development of the common publics....
