ABMSU bandh total in Udalguri

Protesting against the brutal killing of ABMSU president Lafiqul Islam and demanding CBI investigation,ABMSU supporters has virtually paralyzed the normal workings in BTAD. Following indefinite BTAD band call given by the organization, offices,transportation and markets in most of the places in Udalguri district namely-Kalaigaon,Udalguri,Tangla,Rowta etc remained closed today on August 2.Hundreds of ABMSU and AMSU supporters staged road blockade at Udalguri,Kalaigaon yesterday evening at 7 pm causing vehicular disruption for two hours.At Kalaigaon AMSU supporters blocked MB road for two hours demanding CBI inquiry of the killing of Lafiqul Islam and immediate arrest of the culprits.The incident has created tension among people living in sensitive places.In the meantime ruling BPF and various students organizations like AASU,ABSU,AKRSU have condemned the killing of the ABMSU leader Islam and demanded impartial inquiry in it.BTC EM Jagadish Sarkar also strongly condemned the killing of ABMSU president.Talking to this correspondent,he said that late Islam had maintained a cordial relation with BPF for peace in BTAD. Suspecting political angle in the matter,he demanded CBI inquiry into the incident immediately.In the meantime Udalguri district administration has taken up all precautionary measures to prevent violation of law and order in the district. Sadhana Hojai,Deputy Commissioner, Udalguri talking to this correspondent she informed that Kuladhar Saikia,IGP (BTAD) had already arrived in the district to supervise security measures.According to her discussions were held with all political parties and leaders of students organizations of the district.Police have been alerted to monitor situations in sensitive villages.She appealed people of the district to maintain peace at any cost.
