Swine flu case detected in Imphal West
One case of pandemic influenza A H1N1, also known as swine flu has been detected in Imphal West. Health Minister L Jayantakumar on Saturday officially confirmed the swine flu case during a press conference at the Old Secretariat conference hall. He said a 45-year-old man, who has been admitted to Shija Hospital, Langol since July 4, is now a confirmed case of swine flu after a series of necessary tests.
Jayentakumar said that people have now become significantly less alarmed about this disease in Manipur because of various measures taken up by the Health Department to curb it.
The first case of swine flu in the state was detected in in 2015, he mentioned, saying that the government has taken up necessary control measures to fight any new cases of swine flu. He informed that isolation wards are now reserved in JNIMS and RIMS hospitals, especially for suspected cases. A surveillance team has been put into operation with the opening of a State Information Cell, he further informed.
Jayentakumar appeals to the public to be cautious and follow the health tips like washing hands often, avoiding crowded places, drinking plenty of water and getting plenty of sleep to keep away this communicable disease.
