Workshop on women's security

The womens in the state are face severe crime situations and some other arising environment due to lack of security. The All Bodo Women’s Welfare Federation (ABWWF) is organiosing an workshop on womens to create awareness as well welfare of the society with security and protection of  womens in the state.

The Kokrajhar district unit of the ABWWF observed its 31st foundation day on Friday at Dumariguri Alayaron High School ground in Kokrajhar district with day-long programme scheduled.An workshop on the topic of ‘women’s welfare,security and its uplift among society’ was also organised with coinciding the observation involving federation worker and women activists.Nearly 500 federation worker and womens from different parts of the Kokrajhar district participated the observation. Uttam Chandra Brahma,vice president of Boro Somaj,Kanan Basumatary,former president of ABWWF were graced as resource persons on the occasion with Mithinga Basumatary,former president of the ABWWF in the chair.

Brahma said that many kinds of crimes on womens are increasing day by day among society across the country.Even though,government has been stressing to frame laws to protect womens from any kinds of crime as well unwanted situations,yet womens are not protected so far.He said that the Bodo womens have own its culture,language and traditions through which Bodos could be identified in the society.He has urged the state government and concern authority to make stern measures while checking women’s security and protection in the country so that human society could get healthy living. Brahma has lauded the ABWWF,which has been working for the welfare  of women’s community in the state since inception. He has expressed his hopeful that the federation would be successful while bringing awareness and protection of the women’s in the state. Jaypal Sing Brahma,Inspector of Schools,Chirang;Dhwajendra Nath Brahma,Bodo literary activist were prominent attendees on the occasion.Earlier in the morning,Udangshri Borgoyary,president of Kokrajhar dsitrict unit of ABWWF hoisted federation flag.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest. Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar.
