Hajj pilgrims meet at Udalguri and Darrang

The Darrang district Haj committee organised two day orientation training programme for Hajj pilgrims of Darrang and Udalguri ahead of this year's 'Haj' to Mecca at District library,Mangaldai on July 8 and 9. The first day programme was inaugurated by Mangaldai legislator Gurujyoti Das. In the open session Sipajhar legislator Binanda Saikia and Darrang DC Ashok Kr. Barman conveyed greetings to the pilgrimes. Sahab Uddin Tapadar DTO Darrang also imparted training and distributed special pamphlets and  briefed Haj-related do?s and don?t . Pilgrims were informed about boarding, lodging and offering prayers. On the concluding day on July 9 the Haj aspirants were injected with vaccines and were tipped with rules and regulations by Abdul Haque teacher of Bechimari HS school of Darrang. The programme was attended by Nakibur Zaman Chairman of Joint State Hajj Committee.

This time a total of 179 Hajj pilgrims of Darrang 14 of Udalguri totalling 193 would leave for Mecca which include 49 female pilgrims.

The 'Haj' is an annual pilgrimage to Mecca, the holy city of Islam. It is mandatory in Islam for physically and financially-able adults to go on a 'Haj'. It is among one of the five pillars of Islam, along with Shahadah, Salat, Zakat, and Sawm.
