Private schools shine in Tangla

The private sector schools of Tangla perfomed better in the HSLC 2017 examination  declared on Wednesday. Auxilum Convent Tangla seems to have gained its lost glory as 27 out of 28 students secured first divisions with 4 students securing distinction and 5 securing star marks. Chancal Dhar of the school secured state highest 100 marks in English informed Sister Mary Joseph Principal of Auxilum Convent ,Tangla. Meanwhile Arunodoi Academy another private school also performed really well. Chakidipta Baruah was the district topper securing 94.5% and state highest 100 marks in English. She is the daughter of Dulal Baruah and Binita Sarania. Rupah Anand Hazarika of the same school also secured state highest 100 marks in Advance Mathematics. He is the son of Dithakananda Hazarika and Anjali Devi Hazarika. Out of 59 students of the academy 30 secured first division,six distinction marks and seven star marks. Talking to The Sentinel Napolean Daimari the Principal of Arunodoi Academy said that," We were quite ignorant that this time the positions were reduced to 10 in HSLC instead of 20 like previous year. The education department should have notified the institutions regarding their stance on number of position holders ." The people of the town have hailed the good performance of the school. The government schools both Tangla HS school and Tangla Girls HS school performed abysmally low in terms of pass percentage.

UDALGURI: The Indo-Bhutan border villages in Udalguri district-region fraught with human-animal conflict and bloodshed and continue to witness brutality of wild jumbos.  In yet another incident, one Mardia Munda (25), a tea garden labour , was trampled to death by wild jumbos at Nalanadi under Dimakuchi PS in Udalguri district on Wednesday.Reportedly, the labour was on his way back home after plucking green leaves when he was confronted by wild jumbo trampling him to death. The local villagers witnessed his soul-less body at about 3 pm when the police and forest officials reached the spot. His body has been retrieved and sent for post-mortem.
